Hot tub diverter valves are used to control the flow and direction of water or air within your hot tub. They redirect the water from your hot tub and send it in different directions, allowing for control of water direction and flow.
The 1 and 2-inch sizes refer to the inner diameter of the connecting hose or pipe, not any measurement on the actual part.
A 2-inch diverter valve is typically used to route water from the pump to group 1 or group 2 jet clusters or somewhere in between. This allows for finer control of seating groups and is used by manufacturers instead of having to add another pump to manage more jets. The “2 inch” refers to the inner diameter of the connecting hose, so this is for the main water flow.
On the other hand, a 1-inch diverter valve would be used for smaller water flows within the hot tub system.
